Paul Owen, scenic designer

Over the course of 35+ seasons at Actors Theatre of Louisville, Paul Owen has designed nearly all the productions in the 30-year history of the Humana Festival of New American Plays. As resident designer, he was a key member of the planning team for ATLís expansion projects in 1972 and 1994.

Owen is also a frequent guest designer for other theaters. Recent projects have included productions for Syracuse Stage, Florida Stage, and the Georgia Shakespeare Festival.

A Texas native, Owen spent the first 10 years of his career with the Alley Theatre in Houston. In 1992, he won a Kentucky Governorís Award in the Arts for artistic achievement.

Addendum: Paul Owen resigned from ATL at the end of the 2008-2009 season, after 38 years with the company.
