Julie May, Leaf Artist
Glass artist and printmaker Julie May of Shelbyville, Kentucky, loves to study nature, art, and other cultures.
Julie majored in art and art education at Asbury College, with an emphasis in stained glass, but it was a trip to Pilchuck Glass School in Washington after graduating that opened the door to blown glass and printmaking.
After her time at Pilchuck, Julie's long love of nature began to make an appearance in her artwork, through a printmaking process called vitreography. Through vitreography, Julie creates beautiful and elegant prints of leaves and stems culled from Kentucky’s diverse flora.
