Kentucky Muse - Mary Ann Currier
This Louisville Life segment is an excerpt from KET's new arts series Kentucky Muse. Get to know Louisville artist Mary Ann Currier and her incredible work in "Master of Still Life: Mary Ann Currier."
Some in the art world consider Mary Ann Currier one of the most outstanding visual artists Kentucky has ever produced. Her work hangs in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Speed Art Museum in Louisville, and the Jacksonville Art Museum, as well as in the collections of Exxon Corporation, American Express, Cargill, Inc., and Goldman Sachs.
Currier is an artist whose still lifes are recognized as remarkable contributions to American realism and whose influence as a teacher has shaped generations of young Kentucky artists, among them sculptors Ed Hamilton and Dave Caudill and painter/gallery owner Gayle Cerlan.
Kentucky Muse, a new series from KET, celebrates the world of creative output and spirit found within the Bluegrass state.
