Graphic designer, photographer, and owner of the design firm IMAGES, Julius Friedman’s work has been a mainstay in the visual arts scene for more than 20 years. He also co-owns Louisville’s Chapman Friedman Gallery with his artist wife, Cheryl Chapman.
Friedman's work has been featured in major design journals and exhibited in museums nationally and internationally. His work is in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the National Gallery of Art, the National Museum of Poster Art (Warsaw, Poland) and various corporate collections. Friedman has also lectured extensively on design in many cities across the country.
The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft is featuring 2008 Images and Ideas: The Photographic Art of Julius Friedman through October 11, 2008, in KMAC's Steve Wilson Gallery. The exhibition is in conjunction with the recent publication of Julius Friedman: Images and Ideas published by Butler Books. Most of the works in this latest exhibition have not been shown before.
The photographs of Julius Friedman can be seen as part of the new installment of KentuckyShow! at The Kentucky Center. His photographs light up the entrance to the theater.
