Painter, art gallery owner and urban pioneer Billy Hertz has moved from downtown to an art studio and gallery near Shelby Park.
In this Louisville Life segment, we tour Hertz's new digs and get the scoop on his big plans.
Hertz opened his first gallery in the Butchertown neighborhood in the 1970s.
In 1991 Hertz and partner Tom Schnepf to East Market Street. There they opened Galerie Hertz at 636 E. Market St. This move helped usher in the gallery boom in downtown Louisville.
In October 2007 Hertz bought a building at 1253 S. Preston St., at the corner of Shelby Parkway. Not only is the space Hertz's new gallery and art studio, he also lives in the building.
