Kentucky Muse - Stephen Rolfe Powell
Many of Stephen Rolfe Powell's former students are making names for themselves in Louisville, including Ché Rhodes and Brook White. Rhodes is assistant professor of glass at the Cressman Center for the Visual Arts which is home to the glass program at UofL's Department of Fine Arts. Brook White is the co-owner of Flame Run Gallery, a Louisville glassblowing studio and gallery.
Louisville's leading role in glass arts has taken the national spotlight. The city has been selected by the Glass Art Society (GAS) as the host city for their 40th Annual conference and exhibits, GAS 2010.
As a major arts event, GAS 2010 will bring international recognition to Louisville and its arts community. Geared toward artists, collectors, scholars, students and educators, GAS 2010 will be held June 10-12, 2010 at the Louisville Marriott Downtown Hotel.
GAS 2010 co-chairs are Merrily Orsini of corecubed, Ché Rhodes, Brook White and Pam Koss, Executive Director of the Glass Art Society.
