Derby Festival Spelling Bee

five-time champ John Tamplin

The Kentucky Derby Festival Spelling Bee has become one of the festival’s most noteworthy and far-reaching events. First held in 1994, the event has grown in popularity every year and now attracts county champions from all over Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

The footage from The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee seen in this Louisville Life salute to the KDF bee was provided by Broadway Across America Louisville. Visit the web site to learn more about upcoming shows in the series, which brings touring Broadway productions to Louisville venues.
