Lebowski Fest 10th Anniversary
Crime capers are a dime a dozen in Hollywood, but the quirky 1998 Coen Brothers film "The Big Lebowski" is a cult classic … and nowhere is its status more evident than in Louisville, Ky.
Why? Because Louisville is home to Lebowski Fest – an annual festival devoted to the film, man!
Each summer, fans or “Achievers” as they call themselves, flock to Louisville for a weekend of concerts, movie screenings and all things Lebowski.
The festival culminates with a night of unlimited bowling and camaraderie.
And, it’s not unusual for a star or two from the film to drop in on the fun.
A mutual love for the movie moved “founding dudes” and Louisvillians Will Russell and Scott Shuffitt to start Lebowski Fest in 2002.
Since then the festival has bowled over thousands of attendees and earned international recognition.
Although Lebowski Fest travels cross-country several times a year, the main annual event belongs to Louisville.
The 2011 Lebowski Fest — the 10th anniversary — was July 15th & 16th.
Age restrictions vary from event to event. The Bowling Party is almost always all ages. Visit the official website for more details.
