August Moon and Asiatique

Chef Peng S. Looi August Moon, kitchen

It’s been a part of Louisville’s restaurant landscape for 20 years. August Moon Chinese Bistro is a dream fulfilled for Malaysian immigrant Chef Peng Looi, whose eateries include the equally lauded Asiatique. In this Louisville Life segment, we explore why his restaurants are such favorites among Asian food fans.

Although Chef Looi is co-owner of both August Moon and Asiatique, the two restaurants are distinctly different in mood and cuisine.

August Moon offers an exciting blend of influences from the Near East, two of the most prominent influences coming from his native Malaysia. August Moon’s Chinese Bistro cuisine reflects the ingredients and techniques with which Chef Look became immersed at an early age.

Guests may enjoy full service, or simply hors d’oeuvres and cocktails in the lounge or at the bar. A deck adjoining the main dining room overlooks a wooded area and beckons guests to enjoy outdoor seasonal dining.

Located at 1767 Bardstown Road, Asiatique excites taste buds with Chef Peng Looi's award winning Pacific Rim cuisine. Chef Looi combines Asian flavors with traditional western techniques to create a delicious blend of cuisine. This unique dining experience provides a global fusion of fresh ingredients, flavor and texture.

Asiatique is open for dinner only: Sun.-Wed. 5:30 pm -10:30 pm; Thur.-Sat. 5:30 pm - 2:00 am. Call 502-451-2749 for information, or make a reservation online.

August Moon Chinese Bistro, 2269 Lexington Road, is open for both lunch and dinner. Lunch: Monday - Friday 11:30 AM - 4:00 PM and Saturday & Sunday Noon - 4:00 PM; Dinner Sunday - Thursday 4:00 PM - 9:30 PM and Friday + Saturday 4:00 PM - 10:30 PM. The bar and lounge are open Sunday - Thursday until 10:30 PM; Friday + Saturday until 11:30 PM. Call 502-456-6569 for details.

Chef Looi and family Chef Looi has more delicious designs for his food empire. Future plans include expanding his Asiatique concept into a national chain of bistros and publishing a cookbook.
