Feature Story: "Louisville Life"meets Tori Murden McClure, the first woman to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean and to ski to the South Pole, as well as climb a dramatic Antarctic mountain peak, the Lewis Nunatak. McClure discusses her new book, "Pearl in the Storm", including why it focuses on her first attempt to row across the Atlantic, which was unsuccessful.
Guest: John Gordon, chief meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Louisville, discusses the past 12 months of weather in Louisville (2008-2009), including the recent flash flood, February’s ice storm and last year’s hurricane winds.
Around Town: "Louisville Life" takes a short trip to Nelson’s County’s Abbey of Gethsemani, where the monks live lives of service and worship, supporting themselves by making fruitcake, cheese and bourbon fudge. Plus, we visit Capriole Farmstead Goat Cheeses, an Indiana business that makes fresh, ripened and aged cheeses by hand using only the milk from their own goat herd - some of which have been recognized as the best in the world.
Etc.: A brief history of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, the first seminary of the Southern Baptist Convention. Founded in 1859, it relocated from Greenville, S.C., to Louisville in 1877.
