Feature Story: "Louisville Life" pays tribute to Armed Forces Day by profiling the Zachary Taylor National Cemetery. Located in Louisville,Ky., Zachary Taylor National Cemetery was established in 1928 by an act of Congress initiated by the Taylor family. The cemetery includes the family burial site where President Taylor, a hero of the Mexican American War and nicknamed “Old Rough and Ready,” is interred.
Guest: In the studio, Candyce speaks with Kevin Connelly, executive director of the Center for Nonprofit Excellence. We learn what the Center is doing to help nonprofit organizations serve our community.
Around Town: Just upriver from Louisville, on the banks of the Ohio in Carrollton, Ky., the Highland House Bed & Breakfast welcomes guests. We visit and learn the back story of this historic place. Plus, we join Elizabeth Schaaf, owner of Elizabeth’s Timeless Attire (a vintage clothing store on Frankfort Avenue). She and a group of friends calling themselves “” have a club for vintage-clothing lovers who come together each month for “dress up.”
Etc.: Et Cetera explores the history of perhaps the most widely known social club in the Commonwealth, The Pendennis Club.
