Alun Jones, Louisville Ballet


Alun Jones

Alun Jones was born in South Wales and graduated from the Monmouthshire College of Arts and Crafts with a degree in design. In 1975, he joined the Louisville Ballet as Associate Director of the Academy of the Louisville Ballet and became Artistic Director in 1978. Mr. Jones has choreographed "The Merry Widow", "The Trojan Women", "The Lady of the Camellias" and more than 30 other ballets as well as his own versions of Prokofiev's "Cinderella" and "Romeo and Juliet" for the Louisville Ballet. He has designed scenery and costumes for the Houston Ballet, the Tulsa Ballet Theatre and the Louisville Ballet. He was the chairman of the professional wing of the National Association for Regional Ballet for two years and has been a site visitor for the National Endowment for the Arts and the Ohio Arts Council.
