Phyllis Jenness, Lexington Opera

Phyllis Jenness

Phyllis Jenness is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Lexington Opera. From 1994 to 1999 Ms. Jenness was the Artistic Director of the Opera of Central Kentucky (OCK), Lexington Opera's predecessor. OCK started in 1990, and in the subsequent years did "Carmen", "Cosi Fan Tutte", "Cavalleria Rusticana", and "Amahl and the Night Visitors", for all of which she acted as choral director. At present, the Lexington Opera is an adjunct of UK Opera Theatre. In 1993, Phyllis retired from a 39-year career at the University of Kentucky. During that time, she taught voice, sang, and for most of those years, was in charge of the opera program, which started in 1955.
