Cari Norris, Musician/Visual Artist


Cari Norris

Singer/songwriter Cari Norris has been performing traditional Appalachian music throughout Kentucky and beyond since 1988. In addition to several Mixed Media performances, KET audiences have seen her in the series Tour of Kentucky Folk Music and Jubilee.

Cari Norris and band For her most recent Mixed Media appearance, in March 2003, Cari and her band played selections from the album In and Out of the Garden. The band includes her husband, Jim McGee, on fiddle and guitar; the two have been performing together since 2000. Dan Boone plays mandolin and guitar, Jimmy Brown is the bassist, and Gary Stillwell provides the percussion.

Cari is also a visual artist with a B.A. in studio art from the University of Louisville, where she has completed graduate work in painting and creative writing. She lives in Louisville and teaches visual arts and special education at Ballard High School.
