Jay Ferguson, Kentucky Derby Museum

Jay Ferguson

Jay Ferguson is the Director of Curatorial Services at the Kentucky Derby Museum. On "Mixed Media" he talks about the renovations that have taken place at the Kentucky Derby Museum.

Included in the physical expansion of the Museum is the entry, dedicated educational space, enlarged exhibit space, and an expanded Gift Shop and Derby Cafe. The project has added 10,000 square feet to the Museum's exsisting 46,000 square feet. The Burdick Group designed the Museum's new exhibits; they designed the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, OH. Louisville's Luckett & Farley was the architect for the project.

The renovation of the Kentucky Derby Museum's exhibit space will allow for the presentation of cohesive stories of past Kentucky Derbys and will improve the flow of visitors through the exhibit areas. The Museum's first floor will be organized into three exhibit groupings: The Derby; The Horses, their Owners and Trainers; and The Jockeys and the Backside Crews.
