Sue Massek, Circuit Rider for Kentucky Arts Council
As a folk musician and folklorist who has done some work for the Kentucky Folklife Program, Sue is particularly excited about the cultural resources and folklife in her territory. Her area is primarily rural farm communities and small county seats (with the exception of Louisville and Frankfort.) Part of Sue's job as a circuit rider is to find the "tradition-bearers" and to help them understand that, as artists, they are of great value to their communities. Sue believes that people in rural communities long for the opportunity to celebrate their heritage. There are grants, consulting opportunities, and other resources available through the KAC for organizations and schools wanting to bring folklife and other arts events into the community.
