Nick Reifsteck and the Serotones

Nick & Serotones

Nick Reifsteck Born and raised in Louisville, Nick has been a professional musician since his teens. He's been in bands that local rock lovers remember, such as The Bollocks, Jil Thorp and the Beat Boys, The Holidays, and One Red Romeo. After sojourns in Hollywood and Nashville, Nick has returned to Louisville -- to stay, he says -- and has formed a new group.

3 shot After nearly two years of work together, Nick Reifsteck and the Serotones are ready to go public. They perform strictly original music -- southern-flavored roots rock with an emphasis on catchy, sometimes haunting melody, puncuated with the Will Cary kind of blistering guitar work that local audiences remember from Nick during his days with The Holidays and One Red Romeo. Nick plays and sings lead, supported by bass, drums and backup vocals. Will Cary, also a well-known local musician, plays harmonica.

Charlie Stevenson "Black Dog," the band's first full-length CD, was recorded locally at the end of last year and features Cole, the family's black German Shephard, on the cover. As well as being a family tie-in with a quiet humor (witness the dog's enormous ears), the title is a reference to Winston Churchill's "black dog" of depression, and opens with hard-hitting numbers written during hard times, before ending in a more lyrical intimate tone. The members of the band include Nick Reifsteck - guitar, vocals; Fred Lipsey - bass, vocals; Charlie Stevenson - drums; Alice Stevenson - vocals; and Will Cary - harmonica.
