Barbara Stallard, Painter/Printmaker
Barbara is also a published poet who has written poetry for more than 30 years. In addition, she spent five years as a professional leather worker and a member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen. She started painting three years ago. Many of Barbaras paintings are based on textile patterns, mostly quilts. She quilts or even embroiders some of the pieces before painting, then uses ribbon, other sewing notions, and gesso to build up surfaces. Barbara also sometimes generates mazes on her computer and then transfers them to cloth through embroidery. Barbara has paintings at the Swanson-Cralle Gallery and has shown her work at the Kentucky Arts Council Marketplace.
