Jeffrey Smith, Bassist

Jeffrey Smith Bassist Jeffrey Smith graduated from Cumberland College in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in music, then moved to Nashville, where he recorded and performed with an alternative rock band called The Evinrudes. In 1998, he relocated to Louisville and formed his own band, Dharmachine. That group has released two critically acclaimed recordings: The 1999 EP Bang! and the 2000 LP Ride the Clean Fuel. Dharmachine continues to tour regionally, playing a signature brand of space-style rock.

At the time he visited Mixed Media in fall 2001, Jeffrey was hard at work writing and recording his debut solo album with special guests Terry Bozzio and bassist Steve Bailey. That album not only showcases Jeffrey’s skills on the bass, but also reveals his talent for instrumentation using a wide variety of sounds, as well as production and composition.
