Steve Hammond, Fingerstyle Guitarist

Steve Hammond is a fingerstyle guitarist. He received his first guitar, a solid-body electric, when he was 12. But it didnít take him long to gravitate to the natural tone of the acoustic guitar.

It wasnít until nine years later that Steve first discovered the magic of fingerstyle guitar. Once he did, though, he totally immersed himself in learning to play fingerstyle. It wasnít unusual for him to practice up to 14 hours a day. He also studied the styles of Leo Kottke, John Fahey, and many of the old country blues fingerpickers. Soon thereafter, he began to write his own material. Steve has continued to write and to refine his technique for more than two decades since.

Steve has released two CDs: Both Acoustic Landscape and Vortex were released on December 1, 1999.
