The Rumors

The Rumors are Rob Marlin, Dave Ernst, Jerry McBroom, and Jon Beyl. This Southern Indiana band has released four CDs, with the latest, Mind the Gap, on the Louisville-based indie recording label ear X-tacy.

Although the Rumors started out as a cover band, in 1997 the members decided it was time to perform their own music. Their first release, an EP, featured five songs from front man Marlin and one by Sam Powers. It was greeted with good reviews and brisk sales.

A year later, the Rumors went back into the studio to record their first full-length album, Pacific. Then in 1999 the band decided to produce a single. In collaboration with producer Dennis O’Neal, they recorded “San Diego” and “Far Away.” “San Diego” was played on radio stations from New York state to Tempe, Arizona. It was at that point that the band caught the attention of ear X-tacy.
