Kentucky Homefront

KY Homefront

Each week, thousands of listeners from across the region tune in to their public radio stations to enjoy a celebration of local cultural heritage called Kentucky Homefront. The radio show, taped before a live audience at Louisville’s Kentucky Theater, is produced under the umbrella of the Kentucky Theater Project, which showcases local artists in various media.

Ky homefrontAired weekly over public radio affiliates statewide, Kentucky Homefront features Kentucky storytellers and musicians. The program fuses traditional and contemporary expression to create a sense of place. By showcasing more than 100 regional performing artists a year—including folk musicians, representatives of multiple cultural heritages, and young people—the producers also aim “to promote the preservation of Kentucky’s cultural and environmental homefront and to build a stronger, more inclusive community.”
