The Accountants, musicians

The Accountants

band members The Accountants are a Louisville-based rock band—made up of real-life accountants—who have recorded a CD titled Corporate Punks Amuck. Here’s how members Sid Luscious (guitar), Pound (drums), Ben Graves (bass and vocals), and Peter Duncan (guitar) describe what they’re up to:

“The Accountants are four guys in their mid-30s who live and work in the corporate world. And they are fed up: with their jobs, their bosses, and all the corporate BS. They’re tired of getting pushed around, tired of being the punchline in all the geek jokes. And they refuse to pass quietly into middle age.

“And so they rock. The company may own them from 9 to 5, but once they strap on their guitars, no one can tell them what to do. band member In this department there are no constraints, no dictates of decorum. The band is where their fantasies find expression and their alter-egos come out to play. The Accountants take aim at the machine that made them. The songs are fast and fun, with tongue firmly in cheek. No aspect of corporate life is spared with titles such as ‘Executive Comp (Is What I Need),’ ‘Suck Up,’ and ‘E-Mail Junkie.’

“The Accountants are leading the revolution against bubblegum pop. Balding and expanding at the waistline, the Accountants are the anti-pop stars. They are not cute, and they cannot dance. Theirs is not the angst of the teenybopper set. This is music for grown-ups who work for a living and deal with real issues. The Accountants are more than just a great rock and roll band. They advance the flag for all the cube-dwellers who refuse to join the herd. They are the heroes of the white-collar weekend warriors who want to rock.”
