Marianne Brown, potter

Marianne Brown Marianne Brown has always been fascinated with clay and the vessel form as means of expression. She produces hand-made, functional stoneware pottery, most of which is thrown on the wheel. Though traditional in form, her finished work has a contemporary look. Some pieces feature stamped decoration, using stamps she makes herself. The decorative motifs are drawn from multi-ethnic sources, including 13th-century Persian pottery and Mayan and Aztec symbols.

Marianne Brown artwork Marianne finishes her work with her own glaze formulations, measured and mixed in her studio, and fires the pieces in a large kiln she designed and built.

Her pottery pieces, which include small vases and bowls as well as large platters, are all dishwasher-, oven-, and microwave-safe, and the glazes are completely lead-free.
