David Selter, doll maker

David Selter Award-winning graphic designer David Selter started his art career as a fashion illustrator for Stewarts Dry Goods in the late ’60s. After leaving Stewarts, he worked as a designer and illustrator for several advertising agencies, then started his own freelance graphic design studio. His clients included Fashion Shop, Bittners, and Farm Credit Bank.

About five years ago, David embraced a new, three-dimensional medium: creating original polymer doll figurines. Two of his Santa Claus concepts have been mass-produced by Possible Dreams, and last year he sold a doll to Richard Simmons for his personal collection.

David is a member of the Academy of American Doll Artists and has displayed at major national doll shows.
