Schimpff’s Confectionery

Schimpff

Warren Schimpff G.A. Schimpff’s Confectionery is one of the oldest continuously operated, family-owned candy businesses in the United States. Gustav Schimpff Sr. and Jr. opened Schimpff’s in its present location in Jeffersonville’s downtown historic district in 1891.

This unique confectionery and lunchroom comes complete with a 1950s-style soda fountain and original tin ceiling. The old-fashioned candy jars and cases and turn-of-the-century equipment transport you back to the good old days of homemade candy and a real fountain drink. Behind-the-scenes tours to see the candy being made are also available.

In 1990, Warren Schimpff (left) and his wife, Jill Wagner Schimpff, bought the candy business in order to keep it all in the family—and to celebrate this Southern Indiana landmark’s centennial anniversary.
