Louisville singer/songwriter Joni Wilcoxson has had a passion for music most of her life. She put it aside for a time during the mid-80s to pursue her education, earning a B.A. in English. Then after receiving her degree, Joni moved to Los Angeles to resume her pursuit of a career in music. Finding herself alone and missing home, she became disillusioned with the music scene and moved back to Louisville in hopes of leading a normal life.
But an artist can never be silent for long, and Joni soon rediscovered her passion for music and began writing again. Now, after a 15-year hiatus from the Louisville music scene, she has released her long-awaited debut CD, Sidewalks. Its an eclectic mix of smart, catchy pop songs and haunting ballads reminiscent of the 1960s and 70s, with a hint of spooky Southern groove, a touch of Bacharach, and lyrics that range from heart-wrenching to downright hatefulbut are always heartfelt.
