The Kentucky School of Craft

Kentucky School of Craft

The Kentucky School of Craft is a professional crafts school affiliated with Hazard Community College and is part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. It is located in Hindman, a small town in the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky known for its history of education in and support of crafts.

The mission of the Kentucky School of Craft is “to train people to start and expand craft and craft-related businesses that create high-quality works based on the regional traditions of design and workmanship.” Its founders hope to make it a national and international model for craft education as part of community development, exemplary in its programs and outcomes.

Students can obtain a variety of certificates and degrees through HCC, choosing among courses in five media areas: jewelry/metals, wood, clay, blacksmithing, and fibers. For more information, contact Kentucky School of Craft Dean Tim Glotzbach.
