Kimcherie Lloyd is the director of music at the Kentucky Opera, where she also serves as music director for the Young Artists Program and assistant conductor/chorusmaster for the main-stage productions. Her past affiliations include the Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Baton Rouge Opera, and Ann Arbor Chamber Orchestra. In addition, she has appeared as a guest conductor with the Louisville Orchestra and Louisville Youth Orchestra, was music director of Music Theatre Louisville, and is a former artistic director of Voices of Kentuckiana. During the summer, Kimcherie directs the Kentuckiana Music Institute Orchestra.
She also continues to teach as director of orchestral studies and opera theater at the University of Louisville School of Music, where she also teaches a graduate seminar in conducting and individual conducting lessons.
Kimcherie holds bachelors and masters degrees in piano performance from Eastern Michigan University and a masters in orchestral/opera conducting from Louisiana State University. She is completing a DMA in conducting at the University of Minnesota. She also studied conducting with Julius Kalmar at the Conservatorium in Vienna, Austria.
