Robert Head, painter

Robert Head Robert William Head lives with his wife, Nita, and their animals in the woodlands of western Kentucky. A native of Springfield, Ill., Head earned an M.F.A. from Kent State University in 1965. From 1965 until 1997, Head taught painting and drawing at Murray State University, where he served as Chair of the Department of Arts for eleven years and is now Professor Emeritus. He has traveled throughout Africa, Asia, Mexico and Canada and in the last few years has spent time painting in Alaska, most frequently in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Inspired by painting natural environments in abstraction, Head states. “Whether we live in cities, small towns or more remote areas, all of us are profoundly affected by the elements comprising and surrounding the planet upon which we live.”Robert Head
