Wayne Ferguson, potter
![]() Kentucky ceramics artist and teacher Wayne Ferguson is well regarded throughout the state and within the art and craft industry. His mother first handed him clay to mold as a way to occupy and interest an otherwise mischievous child. But as Wayne grew, so did his skills.
The artists own life story took a difficult turn in August 2004, when a car accident left him blind in his right eyea major injury for anyone, but particularly so for a visual artist. In December, fellow artists from across Kentucky donated pieces for an auction to raise money for Wayne, who does not have health insurance. The auction helped get him out from under his medical bills, and now Wayne has taken on the altered vision as just another artistic challenge. Several exampls of Waynes art can be seen among the permanent collection at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft. Wayne and fellow artist Brian Newton also teach private lessons; for information, call Brians Crestwood studio at (502) 243-6886.
