Victor Sweatt, visual artist
![]() Self-taught artist Victor Sweatt was born in Louisville, the oldest of three sons in a single-parent household. He credits his mother for the strength and determination that helped him survive and excel in the tough inner-city neighborhoods of West Louisville. An artistic visionary, Victor seeks to capture thought-provoking, emotional moments in time. He explores the versatility of pastel, watercolor, and charcoal to dramatically portray human interactions and surroundings. A realist painter, he is inspired by ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. I want to create art that is not only beautiful, but insightful, educational, and inspiring as well, he says. Victor has won several awards and is a signature member of the Louisville Visual Art Association, the Kentucky Artist Pastel Society, and the Kentucky Watercolor Society. His work has been exhibited in group and solo shows and is held in public and private collections throughout the United States.
