Helen LaFrance Orr is a self-taught painter who transforms her memories of childhood in rural Kentucky into inspired scenes from our agricultural past. Her vivid canvases chronicling rural African-American heritage and the customs and traditions of a nearly vanished way of life have made her one of Western Kentucky’s best-known folk artists.
