Musician and teacher Jerry Tolson performs on this edition of Mixed Media, playing cuts from his self-produced CD Nu View and the more recent release Live at Moms. An assistant professor in music education and jazz studies at the University of Louisville, Jerry also leads three of his own bands. On the show, he is joined by Dwight Dozier on drums, Sonny Stephens on bass, and David Clark on alto sax. Jerry also sits down with Chip to talk about his musical adventures.
Also visiting this week are Dana Hooper and John Hetzel of Sight & Sound, a Louisville media production company. Co-owner John is a producer, writer, director, and actor, and Dana is an actor, writer, and comedian. They preview a Sight & Sound production of The Trial.
Next up is Jeanette McDermott, who talks about the new life being given to Louisvilles Kentucky Theater. Among the projects she highlights are Kentucky Homefront, a live radio program produced at the historic theater, and performance opportunities for local entertainers.
Finally, our cameras visit painter/printmaker Barbara Stallard in her studio. Barbara has been writing poetry for the past 30 years (give or take a few), but started painting only about three years ago. Much of her work is based on quilt designs and other textile patterns.
