First up in this “best of” edition is painter Robert William Head, who lives in the woodlands of Western Kentucky. A native of Springfield, IL, Head earned an M.F.A. from Kent State University in 1965, then moved to Murray to teach painting and drawing at Murray State University. He also served as chair of the Department of Arts for 11 years before retiring in 1997. Since then, he has traveled throughout Africa, Asia, Mexico, and Canada and has spent a lot of time painting in Alaska, most frequently in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Growing up in a family of builders and craftsmen, Dan Barnes experienced firsthand the satisfaction of creating something from an idea or inspiration. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in human environmental design from the University of Kentucky, studying under Arturo Sandoval, Miles Weiner, and John Tuska. After studying stained glass with Laura Hallock in Lexington, Dan began creating his own original designs combining light, color, and texture.

This edition also offers several favorite Mixed Media music performances, including studio visits by Fire the Saddle and Paul Bennett and his 2nd Chance Band. You’ll also hear some Russian jazz musicians who’ve been visiting the University of Louisville perform “A Night in Tunisia.”
