Louisville visual artist Brenda Wirth has more than 15 years of professional experience in art education programs and community art projects, including the Kentucky Arts Council artist-in-residency program. She paints dramatic landscapes with a flourish of brilliant colors and bold contrasts, breaking the boundaries of the two-dimensional canvas. Her artwork is exhibited at Zephyr Gallery in Louisville and is held in numerous corporate and private collections nationally.
Next, Mixed Media meets photographer Uwe Ommer and visits his 1000 Families exhibit at the Speed Art Museum in Louisville. The exhibition features near-life-size portraits of families from more than 130 countries, creating a family album of planet Earth that emphasizes the importance of family to all cultures.
Throughout the program, Hussam Al-Aydi and his band Baladna perform a variety of Arabic music. Al-Aydi is a Louisville resident, and the band includes musicians from Lexington and Southern Indiana. Baladna performs most Saturdays at Babylon restaurant in Louisville and recently played the Americana World Festival.
