Elsie Kay Harris of Lexington is a contemporary landscape artist who creates colorful, expressive works in which she strives to communicate her initial impression of the beautiful areas she visits. Her work has been extensively displayed on the national level in both juried and invitational exhibitions and was included in The Best of Acrylic Painting and Landscape Inspirations.
While in Lexington, this edition of Mixed Media also stops in at the Explorium. Located in the heart of downtown, the Explorium offers children adventures in learning in nine discovery zones, all filled with interactive exhibits designed to inspire imagination and curiosity. Since 1990, more than a million visitors from around Kentucky and across the country have enjoyed this fun, educational experience.
Throughout the show, two Louisvillians perform examples of Indian classical musica form that dates back to around 9000 B.C., yet is still evolving. Singer Rrucha Bapat, who grew up in Bombay, is accompanied by Vinayak Astekar on the tabla, a traditional percussion instrument.
