Integrating Louisville’s Downtown
In 1960, young members of CORE began weekly sit-ins at segregated businesses in downtown Louisville. After several of them were arrested in February 1961, the number of demonstrators multiplied every week as others turned out to protest the police action. Louisville witnessed picket lines like this one throughout the rest of that year.
