Rioters overturned and burned vehicles during two weeks of violence in Louisville in 1968. In the aftermath of the riots, six black men were arrested and charged with plotting to blow up Ohio River oil refineries. Their court hearings sparked mass demonstrations over the next two years, but the charges eventually were dismissed for lack of evidence.
