Steve Crump, WBTV, Charlotte, NC
Television documentary producer Steve Crump was Lexington’s first African-American anchorman. After working for a time in Detroit, he moved on to Charlotte, NC, where he serves as a reporter for WBTV and produces documentaries. Most recently he produced Louisville’s Own Ali, which showcased the hometown connections of the “Louisville Lip” through interviews with well-known Louisvillians.
A Louisville native, Crump featured his old neighborhood in Smoketown: A Tradition To Treasure. Through the memories of long-time residents, he shared what is special about the place where he grew up, historically one of Louisville’s most depressed areas.
