Rev. C.B. Akins, First Baptist Church, Bracktown

The Rev. C.B. Akins is pastor of Lexington’s First Baptist Church Bracktown. A Tennessee native, Akins earned the doctor of ministry degree from Lexington Theological Seminary.

He began serving as pastor at Bracktown in 1983. The church has since grown from 65 members to more than 800 members. From 2000 to 2003, he was a featured speaker, teacher, and diversity trainer for the Franklin Graham Ministries of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.

Akins served in the Air Force from 1969 to 1973 as a multilingual interpreter. From 1973 to 1980, he taught foreign languages in the Military Intelligence Division of the U.S. Army Reserves.
