Garry R. Bibbs, sculptor

Garry R. Bibbs is a professor of sculpture at the University of Kentucky. His pieces include “Fire Fighter’s Flame Memorial” at the Louisville Fire Department headquarters and “Life, Family and Good Health” at the University of Kentucky’s Kentucky Clinic. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Kentucky State University and a master of fine arts degree from the University of Kentucky. A Ford Foundation post-doctoral fellowship allowed him to study with internationally renowned sculptor Richard Hunt at the School of the Art Institure of Chicago. Bibbs is a member of the Pew Civic Entrepreneur Initiative, a Lexington coalition group whose goal is to confront and solve issues relevant to the community on race relations and leadership.
