Immaculée Ilibagiza, Rwandan genocide survivor
Immaculée Ilibagiza, a survivor of the 1994 Rwandan genocide, emigrated to the United States in 1998. While working with the United Nations, she wrote about her experiences in a book, Left to Tell. The book became a best-seller and has been translated into 15 languages. She works as a speaker to spread her message of peace and forgiveness and to raise money for her Left to Tell Charitable Fund, which helps the children orphaned by the genocide. She has received numerous humanitarian awards, including the Mahatma Gandhi International Award for Reconciliation and Peace.
