Sheryl Lee Ralph, actress and AIDS activist
Veteran stage and screen actress Sheryl Lee Ralph, an AIDS activist, wrote and stars in the one-woman show Sometimes I Cry, based on real women’s personal stories about HIV and AIDS. She gained acclaim in the early 1980s for her role in the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls. As a producer, she created the critically acclaimed Divas Simply Singing!, a popular AIDS benefit in Hollywood. She is also the founding creator of the Jamerican Film & Music Festival.
