Bruce S. Gordon, NAACP president (#202)
Bruce S. Gordon, president of the NAACP, talks with Renee about his plans for achieving his goals for the organization, which include boosting membership and restoring faith in its financial practices.
The wide-ranging discussion also covers recent studies showing that black men in the U.S. are falling further behind despite an economic boom and a welfare overhaul that have brought gains to black women and other groups; Hurricane Katrina and the racial dimensions of its aftermath; and the attitudes of African Americans toward President Bush.
Note: Gordon resigned the NAACP position in March 2007.
