Steve Crump, documentary producer (#207)
The program focuses on Steve Crump and his new documentary, Louisville’s Own Ali. Crump points out that Ali offered blacks a self-confident hero in a time when many were bruised by racial turmoil.
Renee also delves into Crump’s own career, beginning with his stint as Lexington’s first African-American anchorman. He now serves as a reporter for WBTV in Charlotte and produces documentaries. Topics of his previous films have ranged from apartheid to pioneering black jockeys to the civil rights movement in the South.
