Future Black Males Working Academy (#215)
Renee discusses the origins and workings of the academy with Roszalyn Akins, an educator, and her pastor husband, the Rev. Dr. C.B. Akins of First Baptist Church Bracktown in Lexington. They say that in just the first few months, the Future Black Males Working Academy, nicknamed BMW, has helped several young men get out of the principal’s office and onto the honor roll.
Renee then talks about the results of the program with Roger Cleveland, an education professor at Morehead State University and an expert on cultural influences on learning.
