Cheryl Pan, Chinese Folk Dancer (#445)

Cheryl Pan of Lexington, who has trained extensively in classic Chinese folk dances for many years, is also a dance instructor. She specializes in teaching people of all ages different Chinese ethnic dances, some of which are rarely seen in the United States.

Pan choreographs and directs many traditional Chinese dances—such as the Fan Dance, Ribbon Dance, Lantern Dance, and Scarf Dance—and more than 20 styles of ethnic dances, representing Tibetan, Mongolian, Uygurian, Korean, Dai, Yi, Bai, and Miao people.

Since being accepted into the Kentucky Performing Art Directory and Art Education Roster, she has performed at numerous events, including the Kentucky Folklife Festival, the World Music and Dance Festival, and the Governor’s Derby Breakfast.
