Dana Canedy, journalist and author (#511)
Dana Canedy, a Pulitzer Prize winner and a University of Kentucky graduate, shares the story of the loss of her fiancÚ, who was killed in the Iraq war when their son was seven months old. Canedy, who was raised near Fort Knox, met 1st Sgt. Charles Monroe King, a career soldier, at her parents’ home in Radcliff. Inspired by the journal King kept for their son, she wrote A Journal for Jordan. In the program, she talks with Renee about the legacy of wisdom penned by her late partner to their son and the Kentucky roots to which she still clings.
