Human Trafficking (#520)
Kentucky Rescue and Restore Victims of Human Trafficking began in spring 2008 when Catholic Charities of Louisville and its statewide partners received $240,000 in federal funding from the national Rescue and Restore campaign. Catholic Charities and its partners in the campaign—the Bluegrass Rape Crisis Center in Lexington, the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs in Frankfort, and the Women’s Crisis Center in Covington—have identified and helped 81 victims as of December 2009, according to the Archdiocese of Louisville.
Guests on the program are Marissa Castellanos of Catholic Charities, program manager of Kentucky Rescue and Restore Victims of Human Trafficking; Bree Pearsall of the Bluegrass Rape Crisis Center, an outreach advocate for victims of human trafficking; Gretchen Hunt of the Kentucky Division of Child Abuse and Domestic Violence Services; and TK Logan, Ph.D., a behavioral science professor at the University of Kentucky and author of 2007 Report, Human Trafficking in Kentucky.
